Your First Visit
New Patient Forms
Please download the new patient forms on our website, fill them out at home, and bring them to your initial appointment. Certain things in your health history are particularly vital to help Dr. Carpenter properly diagnose your problem. If applicable, please bring with you any copies of previous x-rays, MRI reports, lab results, and a list of any medications or supplements you are currently taking.
During the consultation, Dr. Carpenter will discuss your health history and details of your current problems. This is your opportunity to discuss your concerns and questions. In turn, the doctor will explain the benefits of chiropractic care and how he can help meet your health goals.
Examination & X-rays
A thorough examination will be performed including orthopedic and neurological evaluation. A series of simple and easy exercises will provide information about your motor skills, balance, posture, and gait. These tests also help determine the integrity of your nervous system. Next, Dr. Carpenter will perform a manual exam (called palpation) where he will gently feel your spine with his hands to look for vertebral subluxations (fixations) and tenderness in your spine. At this time, Dr. Carpenter will determine if X-rays are needed. X-rays are taken to determine the condition of the spinal discs (the cushions between the vertebrae in your spine), to determine the phases of degeneration and to locate potential problem areas, damage, misalignments, and to rule out pathologies (disease).
Your Second Visit
Explanation/Report of Findings
An in-depth analysis of your clinical examination and x-ray findings will be discussed. You will receive education about your spine and the integrity of your nervous system. After the exam findings and x-rays are explained and the doctor has answered your questions, a recommended care plan based on your healthcare goals will be discussed.
After you have received your reports and the doctor has accepted your case, you will receive your first adjustment. Dr. Carpenter may also provide you with a home care protocol that may include posture exercises, stretches, cryotherapy, and diet modification.
We are a family practice and we feel honored to be chosen as your family chiropractic physician. It is crucial to have family members examined for vertebral subluxations (spinal misalignments) since many spinal conditions are inherited. Chiropractic care is extremely beneficial for children since spinal trauma can occur during “natural” childbirth and through daily events like skating or riding a bike. Early adjustments help children grow into healthy adults. Early correction prevents problems that spinal subluxations can cause if left undetected and uncorrected.
